Editing RNA or DNA: the great challenge –
Scientific hurdles, medical applications and ethical, legal & societal issues
.
Continuing our series of seminars in honor of Albrecht Müller, ARRIGE invites you to the 4th ARRIGE Albrecht Müller webinar. Working in collaboration with the ROPES MSCA Project [ROles of ePitranscriptomic in diseasES – EU, 2020-2025*], this webinar will explore RNA/transcriptome editing and the associated scientific, technical, medical, ethical, legal, societal and commercial challenges.

*The EU-funded ROPES project focuses on epitranscriptomics as the missing link between genomic variability and cellular phenotype, to delineate disease mechanisms, identify novel biomarkers and develop innovative therapies. ROPES is an International Training Network funded through the MSCA program (under GA #95681009). Event co-organized by the ROPES dissemination committee (Silvo Conticello, Lorena Cebolla, Alessandro Quattrone, Massimiliano Clamer)

About ARRIGE, Albrecht Müller, Seminar Series
.
ARRIGE is an international non-profit organisation launched in 2018 to promote effective global governance of genome editing through a comprehensive setting for all stakeholders, including academics, researchers, clinicians, public institutions, private companies, patient organizations and other non-governmental organizations, regulators, citizens, communication media, governmental agencies and decision makers.
ARRIGE aims to support scientific, ethical, social, legal and political reflection in the field of genome editing, and foster the development of genome editing technologies within a responsible and ethical framework for individuals and for our societies. A final objective is the dissemination of reliable information regarding genome-editing technology from basic science to its various applications. ARRIGE operates as an independent entity and receives support solely from its members working in 52 countries.
*Albrecht Müller was Professor at the Institute of Medical Radiation and Cell Research at the University of Würzburg and was our link with the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Albrecht Müller was an early and active supporter of the concept and aims of ARRIGE and, as such, he contributed to its launching in early 2018, up to his untimely death in September 2019.
The purpose of the Albrecht Müller’s ARRIGE Seminars is twofold. From a general standpoint, its mission is to provide a forum for ARRIGE members and followers to update their knowledge on the scientific and ethical issues of a particular topic linked to gene editing. Secondly, and above all, the seminar seeks to serve as a repository for new insight and policy recommendations by our members on the topic treated in the seminar.
